Get To Know Us:

For over 50 years, the Orangeville Citizen newspaper has been a trusted voice in the Orangeville and Dufferin County community.

Founded in 1974 by Thomas and Pam Claridge, the Orangeville Citizen evolved from the Shelburne Free Press, a newspaper established over 150 years ago.

Operating from our downtown Orangeville office at 10 First Street, the Citizen blends legacy with modern local journalism. We're a close-knit team deeply invested in the community—keeping Orangeville connected, informed, and engaged.

While the Citizen is best known for its weekly newspaper, we’re much more than that. Today, we also produce a premium lifestyle magazine (Our Routes), offer billboard and flyer advertising, and have launched an exciting new initiative: a Christmas market!

Supporting our community and encouraging people to shop local has always been at the heart of what we do. That’s why we’ve created HollyFest—to showcase talented artisans and vendors from across the GTA and bring a vibrant, festive event to town that helps us give back in meaningful ways.

Douglas Rowe – HollyFest Event Director

Doug is the General Manager of the Orangeville Citizen, overseeing newspaper operations with more than 30 years of experience in the industry. Since taking on the GM role in 2017, Doug has also overseen several other Ontario newspapers, providing dynamic leadership to his team. Outside of work, Doug is a self-proclaimed grill master. He and his wife, Kris, own a small BBQ sauce business and regularly participate in local events and markets.

Janine Taylor – HollyFest Event Manager

Janine is the Creative and Content Director of Our Routes magazine and also serves as a graphic designer for the newspaper group. She joined the team in October 2023, bringing over 20 years of experience in design and publishing. A graduate of Sheridan College’s Illustration and Design program (2002), Janine has held a variety of roles in newspaper production. When she’s not laying out pages or designing ads, she enjoys playing women’s softball and fundraising for local charities.
